SWG Legends news // *Friday Feature - Want Not? Waste Not!*

Hello Legends! Do you ever find yourself with numerous stacks of resources that you just don't have a use for? Perhaps they aren't fit for any of your good crafts and they are just taking up inventory. They might not even be worth a spot on your vendor! What is the storage-conscious resource collector to do?
Recycle, of course!
Today we are going to look into a series of tools called Recyclers!
We'll talk about what they are, why you use them, how you acquire them and how they are used. By the end of this feature, you'll be fully equipped to put those old stacks of resources to good use and get back some precious storage space in the process.
Let's get started!

What are Recyclers?
Recyclers are a special kind of container that takes a resource and converts it to a generic stack of that resource type.
There are numerous types of Recyclers for each resource classification. For example, a Metal Recycler converts both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals. Meanwhile, a Flora Recycler does the same but to cereal, fruit, vegetables and wood.

"It may not look like much, but... something... something... counts!"

Now before you get excited about creating massive stacks of server best resources out of your various scraps, you must keep one very important point in mind: all of the resource attributes of the recycled stack will have a base 200 value.
So no matter what stats the resource has when it goes in, it comes out at a 200. Got a 600 OQ stack of water. It's a 200 OQ when you recycle it. Got a 1000 CD copper? Now you don't! 200!
You might be thinking, "Well, what if I recycled something that's lower than 200?"
It comes out to 200. Seeing a pattern yet? If so, well done! But now that you've understood the ramifications of recycling, it begs the question, why ruin a perfectly good stack of resources by turning it into a pile of bantha poodoo?
Why Use a Recycler?
Crafters make use of recyclers because it takes all those smaller stacks of resources and combines them down into a single stack of that resource type. This gives the crafter a big supply of low quality resources to drop into their low quality crafts?
A low quality craft is one that doesn't require any experimentation. Basic clothes. Furniture. Many subcomponents. If you're not putting experimentation into a craft, it's low quality - and that means you can potentially make use of recycled resources!
How to Acquire Recyclers
Recyclers are made by engineers from single-use schematics that drop as loot. They are built using other generic items that also drop. Such items include Agitator Motors, Feed Tubes, Spinner Blades and more. Check the https://swglegends.com/wiki/index.php?title=Recycler for all the details and some clues as to where these items might be found.
Once the engineer crafts the recycler, it's ready to use! Remember, there are different recyclers for each resource type. You'll want to collect 'em all!

Each recycler has it's own radial menu where you select the sub-type you want to convert.

How to Use Recyclers
Now that you've learned what recyclers do and how to acquire them, it's time to talk about how to actually put them to good use!
The recycler has to be in your inventory for it to function. Go ahead and pick it up.
Use the recycler's radial menu to select the resource class that you want to convert. In our example, we have picked up a Metal Recycler. You have the choice of either Ferrous or Non-Ferrous metals. Once you configure the Recycler, it will only accept resources of that type. If you select Ferrous, it will reject any attempt to put Copper or Aluminum within.
Depending on how your Options are configured, you will either drag the resource onto the recycler OR you'll open up the recycler container itself and drag the resource into it.
To check your setting, click O to open options, go to the "Interface" section, then look for "Dragging onto containers puts item into container (instead of reordering them)". If this is checked, you only need to drag the resource to the recycler. If it's unchecked, you'll need to open the recycler.

"Resources go in. Recycled resources come out. Hmm. Great care we must take."

Be super careful! Once the resource is accepted into the recycler, the resource is converted immediately! Hasta la vista, Ehih! There is no undo button. Go directly to wrecked! But if you are using this to chip away at those scores of small resource stacks you haven't touched in ages, you'll be the proud owner of fewer stacks of resources that you'll use for many crafts to come!

See the seafood stats? Every recycled resource has 200 for all applicable attributes!

What's Old is New Again!
Though the recycled resources won't do much good for weapons or proton missiles, you'll find many use cases in your low quality crafts of beds, boots, and bantha butter. And just think of all the storage space you'll recoup after you finish recycling!
We hope this feature gave you new ideas on how to manage your resource supply by replacing those small stacks of unloved resources with huge stacks of very useful recycled goodies! Go visit your favorite engineer today and tell them you are ready to recycle!
May the force be with you,
