SWG Legends news // *SWG: Legends Staff Spotlight: Wafle*

Staff Handle Name?
Wafle
What is your position on the Legends Staff?
QA Lead

What do you do for the project SWG Legends?
I have an awesome team which tests new content, confirms bugs, and tries to creatively break things before the players have a chance to do so.
How did you come to possess these skills, education or self taught?
Lots of on the job training for QA and adaptation of my RL skills. 26 years in the semiconductor industry comes in handy for problem solving. We also have a truly amazing staff - I have used the command /####_HELP! (### = Lokee, Reign, Elour, etc.) many times.
Describe your typical day supporting Legends.
Lots of discord time, coordinating with the dev and design teams on new content testing. Lots of time on the test server trying to break stuff.
What do you think your greatest contribution has been to Legends?
Being one of the staff members who repeatedly tested the Bespin questlines before the waypoints were added. :)
What would the other staff at Legends say to this; “Describe Wafle.”
Hummm, breakfast. Oh sorry, wrong Waffle.
What they actually said:
"Wafle is possibly the sweetest guy on staff - generous and easy-going, but a hard-working QA member and a great lead. I've always appreciated his breadth of knowledge about the game and willingness to commit whatever available time he has to knocking out cards or reproing bugs. Give this man a raise: we can't afford to lose him!" - Mac (QA Team)
"Many years I have known Wafle. As a friend in game or as staff, he will go out of his way to be there when you need him! He is super knowledgeable, kind and thank the maker for his passion for finding the answer to “well, now why did that break?”. Even though he has more badges than I do, I am so happy he is with us on the team and to call him friend." - Kelkel (CSR Team)
"Wafle, now what can I say about my favorite breakfast food? Oh, THAT Wafle! He has been an extremely supportive and knowledgeable lead for the QA team who has done everything in their power to be there for us and have our backs. He is known to stay up into the early hours of the morning testing so that the players of this server have a smooth, enjoyable launch of content from our awesome development team! This man truly has a dedication and love for Star Wars Galaxies and I look forward to working with him every chance I get." - Tukk (QA Team)
"To put this simply, Wafle is the best QA Team Lead that we've had since I've been on staff. He's not afraid to speak up or reach out when he needs help, and he is always available should anyone need him. He looks out for the welfare of his team, and ensures that they have everything they need to be successful. He is a cool, calm, collected, and is often a voice of reason during intense conversations. Thank you for everything that you do Wafle!" - Lokee (Project Admin)
"Even though he’s not a pancake, Wafle is still arguably one of my favorite breakfast foods. The guy is pretty alright too. Wafle is one of the most dedicated and hard-working people I’ve ever met. He puts his heart and soul into the QA work here on the project, all while buying farmland, building fences, or shooing cats off his keyboard. He is exactly the type of person that is required to lead the QA team, and has proven this time and time again. We are lucky to have him here on the team." - Oroti (CSR Team Lead)
"Wafle is a such an important person in our development process. He helps QA ensure the quality of the updates/changes development pushes out meet the high standards we have for Omega. He's a great friend to work with and I've had the privilege of meeting and sharing many laughs with him IRL. Looking forward to working with him to push out more exciting changes for Omega." - Reign (Lead Developer)
"Wafle is the calm guy you want to have at your side when going through a storm. He is a great support for the team, and a good leader for the QAs. Besides his normal work, he understands that there is not only black and white, but many nuances of grey. This makes his opinions very valuable, and he has become a great teamlead through this. And I love his cat!" - Neliev (Project Admin)
What has been the most difficult thing you’ve done supporting Legends?
The big releases, like farming and ranching, are always tricky because there are so many new items and new combinations. The weapon skin update last fall caused me a bit of nervousness because of the chance of catastrophically unbalancing weapons. Spreadsheets are my security blankets.
How often do you actually get to play SWG?
Not as much these days, but SWG:L was very good for me during Covid. Took a while to get a Walluga.
What is your favorite thing to do in-game?
Badge collecting. Riding my nerf mount. Heroics and PVE space.
When did you start playing SWG, and describe that experience?
Started playing on live during the CU and a few months before NGE. After attending a SOE FanFest in Vegas, switched from Bria to Starsider to join with some new friends. Played until close.
Started SWG:L a few years ago. It was so great to be back home.
