Where in the RL world do you live?
I’m from the north of England, in the UK.
How long did you play the live version of Star Wars Galaxies?
I played on live, from release, for around 3-4 years on Euro-Chimaera. SWG for me was the first game that really sparked my interest in crafting game genres and I’ve not found anything quite like it since. It’s great to be here in a community which still shares that same interest.
What type of work do you do?
I make attachments! ok so that’s not work, but it sure feels like it sometimes. :)
In real, real life I’m an IT Consultant, specialising in Networks and Security. Most of my childhood was spent PC gaming (and fixing all the problems that came with it) so a career in IT seemed the logical way to go.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you?
For me it’s usually all about crafting and the economy. I run a store located just outside of Nyms (“Shola’s”) which I take great pride in.
I’ll log on and check sales, review my stock and top up where I need to. I’ll reinvest a large portion of the credits that I make back into my business and look at how I can keep improving it.
Credits aside, it’s nice to feel like you’re providing a useful service to other players whilst being able to do something you enjoy. More recently I’ve given my time to the senate and the crafting committee - another great outlet to be able to contribute alongside some really great minds who share similar interests.
When I get free time, I try and do a little deco. I’ll admit that I’m yet to finish any of the projects that I’ve started. One day, I’d like to enter the homeshow! Let’s aim for a Tuesday. Not sure which year yet.
What was the race and profession of your very first character?
On live and on Legends, it was a Mon Cal Architect/Structures trader. The ‘sandbox’ element to the game where players could place their own structures was a revelation for me, and so crafting structures felt a pretty cool thing to be able to do.
What is the one thing you’ve always wanted to be in Star Wars Galaxies that isn’t or is no longer?
What can’t you be in this game? I never tire of it. There are so many different facets to choose from. I’m pretty happy crafting, but if I want a change I’ll go do some space or re-spec one of my toons and do some heroics.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other than playing Star Wars Galaxies?
Outside of work and gaming, it’s family time. I’ll also pick up my guitar, largely for my own amusement (and much to the detriment of my household.)
What race and profession is your main character?
Shola is a Twi’lek Domestics trader, although I spend most of my time reverse engineering and crafting armor on my munitions trader.
What do you like most about the profession you have chosen for your main character?
Reverse engineering isn’t the most exciting part of the game, but it’s the demand that makes it so appealing to me. Crafting isn’t like other areas of the game - you need the demand to necessitate it. With it being popular, you can find yourself quite busy!
What faction is your main character?
Imperial! What were the other choices again?
What is your favourite player owned ship?
Flying solo I’d have to say the Lambda or Tie Defender, but nothing’s quite as fun as sitting in the turret of a gunboat. The Ye-4 is the business.
What is your favourite ground vehicle?
The Sith Speeder is pretty slick.
How did you choose your main character's name?
When I rolled Shola, she was an entertainer as her first profession. I wanted a name that sounded classy and had a bit of flare. Also, a lot of the “star-wars-esque” names have that double-barrel feel to them (e.g. Qui-Gon etc.)
“Shola” (my pronunciation being “Sho-la”) felt like it fit. I threw “Lamoor” on the end because it sounded fancy. All a bit random and there wasn’t much more to it than that.
Now she wears a mask and sits in a workshop all day crafting attachments! That wasn’t part of the plan :)
What is your favourite planet and/or city and why?
Lok. I’m a practical kinda guy. Whilst it’s not the best looking planet, the starport at Nym’s is the easiest to access. It’s also got the bazaar hub.
Lok also has huge expanses of flat land. There’s nothing is better for building well planned cities, or seeing endless fields of harvesters when there’s a good resource spawn in play.
Shame about the sand, though.
What is your favourite NPC?
Seeing Rees in the Bespin Cantina talking to Oola is pretty cool. It’s great to see player/staff recognition through in-game NPCs.
What are the most credits you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters?
I think it’ll be the Exar Kun Mural, or the Kenobi’s Legacy crystal.
What do you like best about SWG Legends?
The best part? After 20 years, there’s still a strong community that’s here by its own volition. Folks who are running this as a service and continually developing it free of charge - committing their own time to keeping this game going. It’s pretty amazing.
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies.
To be fair, I think I’m living it. I can always look back on the nostalgia of live, but being established as a crafter here and being able to contribute towards the game through the senate is probably my peak.
What is your favourite questline and/or place within Star Wars Galaxies and why?
For the questline I enjoyed doing the “Secrets of the Syrens” Theme Park. It’s got a bit of ground and space in there for variety. The G9 Rigger is also one of the most useful quest rewards in the game for fast travel, I’d highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t already done it.

As for my favorite place, Bespin is where it’s at. The effort that’s gone into it was clearly a huge undertaking. It’s great looking and I’d love to see it more utilised. The much anticipated apartments releases were a huge step towards that.
